Matson Global acquires 3PL, warehouse firm
A distribution services subsidiary of Jones Act ocean carrier Matson Navigation Co. has acquired San Francisco Bay area regional third-party logistics and warehousing firm Pacific American Services.
Matson Global Distribution Services announced the acquisition of the 21-year-old San Leandro-based Pacific American on Tuesday. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
The deal brings Pacific American's nearly 1 million square feet of Bay Area warehousing and distribution operated for clients under the Matson Global umbrella.
Pacific American also brings a customer base of serves hundreds of local, national and international customers to Matson Global, with specialty expertise in handling high value goods in the food and beverage, high tech and consumer packaged goods sector.
Handling nearly 500 million pounds of cargo annually, Pacific American processes more than 45,000 orders per day. The firm's warehouses maintain AIB, FDA and Organic (U.S. and European Union) Food Grade Certificates. Pacific American is also the sole operator of Foreign Trade Zone #56, which last year processed more than $40 million worth of imported and exported goods.
