MCCARTY, FEDEX LOGISTICS CEO, TO RETIRE

Joseph C. McCarty, president and chief executive officer of FedEx Logistics, will retire on May 31, the end of FedEx’s fiscal year.

In his recent position, McCarty, 56, implemented FedEx’s logistics strategy, which has integrated asset-based and non-asset-based logistics services.

Besides president and CEO, he served seven years as senior vice president, with stints in Asia Pacific and Latin America. AS senior vice president-Asia Pacific, he oversaw the integration of Flying Tigers into the FedEx network.

He joined the company in 1983 as vice president-legal, after serving in a private law practice for 13 years.

“Joe has been an invaluable asset to FedEx as we have grown internationally and expanded into logistics services and he will be missed,” said Frederick W. Smith, chairman, president and CEO of FedEx. “He has been instrumental in FedEx’s development and leaves behind a solid foundation.”
