Menlo Worldwide expands North Carolina operations

Con-way Inc. subsidiary Menlo Worldwide will expand its operations in North Carolina by opening a new distribution and logistics facility in the state’s Duplin County.

Tom Mabry, director of global account management for Menlo, said “proximity to our customers’ manufacturing plants and to the Port of Wilmington” were among the factors for locating the facility in Duplin County.

The $1.2 million three-year investment will result in the creation of 30 jobs that will encompass a variety of logistics and distribution services positions, such as receiving, inventory control, order fulfillment, crating and packing, shipping, customer service and warehouse management.

Exact details on the new facility were not released.

The San Mateo, Calif.-based logistics services provider employs 47 employees throughout North Carolina with facilities in Charlotte, Concord and Durham.

Menlo maintains operations in North America and 20 countries. Parent-firm Con-way is a $4.2 billion freight transportation and logistics company also headquartered in San Mateo.
