Miami car crash closes key roadway
All westbound lanes of Northwest 25th Street in Miami were closed during the morning rush hours today in what authorities said was a multiple-car accident apparently caused by a motorist who suffered a heart attack.
The accident occurred on Northwest 25th underneath the Palmetto Expressway, not only blocking Northwest 25th westbound and slowing eastbound traffic, but forcing the shutdown 25th Street westbound exit off the northbound lanes of the Palmetto. Motorists were still able to exit from the southbound Palmetto to get onto 25th Street.
Northwest 25th is one of the primary arterials between Miami International Airport and the warehouse district of Northwest Miami and Doral. There is extensive construction underway on 25th, which often sees severe traffic slowdowns even when there are no additional problems.
