Midwest chassis pool begins operations

Consolidated Chassis Management said its Chicago-Ohio Valley Consolidated Chassis Pool (COCP) has recently commenced operations at seven inland intermodal facilities.

The facilities are in Chicago; Indianapolis; Louisville, Ky.; Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland, Ohio; and Detroit.

The pool will provide chassis management services, including management of maintenance, repair and logistics services, for its participants in over 70 Midwest facilities including rail terminals operated by the BNSF Railway, Canadian National, CSX Intermodal, the Norfolk Southern and Union Pacific. The new chassis pool supports 11 ocean carriers and two leasing companies with a combined fleet of more than 21,000 chassis.

The COCP is the sixth in a national program establishing chassis pools at port and inland intermodal locations throughout the United States.
