MOL to open own liner office in Canada

MOL said it will open its own office in Canada and operate as MOL (Canada) on July 31, ending 53 years of representation of its liner business by the agency Montship.
All other agent agreements between MOL’s non-liner divisions and Montship will continue without interruption.
“Montship has been a fantastic partner for MOL for a long time and we
have had an extremely satisfying relationship,” said Tsuyoshi Yoshida,
president and chief executive officer of MOL (America). “We are thankful
for their professionalism, hard work, and dedication in assisting our
liner business in the Canadian market. It is because of this tremendous
support that MOL’s services have evolved to the point where we are able
to further expand our own operations to meet growing demand in Canada.”
“Representing MOL in Canada for the past 53 years has been a great honor and a high privilege,” said Brian McDonald, chairman and chief executive officer of Montship. “MOL has always been focused on customer service, and their commitment to the Canadian market has been unwavering. We are proud to have contributed to their success, and wish them the very best going forward.”
MOL will maintain its four existing weekly liner services to/from Vancouver and will start Asia/Halifax service from June 17, as the new AZX service operated by the G6 carriers begins operation. – Chris Dupin
