The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has extended a port dues rebate program for automobile carrier operators handling transshipment vehicles for an additional three years, according to a statement from the Southeast Asian port.
The program provides up to 20 percent in rebates for vehicle carriers in port for less than five days at a time, until Dec. 31, 2019, at which point the MPA will review it again.
According to the MPA, rebates are granted to carriers as follows:
• Less than 10,000 transshipped vehicles in Singapore per year: 10 percent port dues rebate if a minimum compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5 percent over base year is achieved. There will be no rebate if the growth condition is not met.
• Between 10,000 and 200,000 transshipped vehicles in Singapore per year: 20 percent port dues rebate if a minimum CAGR of 2 percent over base year is achieved; otherwise, 10 percent port dues rebate.
• More than 200,000 transshipped vehicles in Singapore per year: 20 percent port dues rebate if positive CAGR over base year is achieved; otherwise, 10 percent port dues rebate.
