MRC INVESTIGATIONS OPENS U.S. CARGO CRIME OFFICE
MRC Investigations, the specialist investigation division of MRC Business Information Group Ltd., based in Oxford, in the United Kingdom, has opened a U.S. office in Wheaton, Ill.
MRC will investigate and try to recover domestic cargo crime losses, and also offers pre-risk consultancy services. The company’s target clients are U.S.-based insurers and Lloyd’s syndicates, marine underwriters, trucking and intermodal transport operators.
“It is conservatively estimated that cargo crime related incidents cost the U.S. economy over $10 billion a year in merchandise losses,” said James Wilkes, chief executive officer of the new company and director of investigations at the parent Group’s U.K. headquarters. Until now, “there’s been very little constructive or creative counter-action to cargo crime.”
