MSAS U.K. PROVIDES SUPPLY-CHAIN INFORMATION LINK FOR HITACHI
MSAS Global Logistics said that Hitachi will be among the first of its U.K.-based clients to implement its Internet-based supply chain visibility system.
The MSAS information system, named “MSAS Supply Chain Integrator,” will be able to draw together information from multiple sources, including MSAS, Hitachi and other third-party service providers, and provide visibility across the whole supply chain via the Internet.
MSAS Global Logistics imports 600 tons of equipment a month to the U.K. for Hitachi, from manufacturing plants in Japan, the Philippines, Malaysia, China and Taiwan.
This includes digital video discs, hard drives and computer monitors. The goods are brought, by sea or air freight, to a 2,000-square-meter European distribution centre in the U.K., from where they are distributed to Hitachi’s customers all over Europe.
MSAS said that, over the next 12 months, it will introduce the supply chain integrator system to give Hitachi access, via its own secure Intranet site, “to a total view of their goods during their entire life-cycle” whether in transit, in the warehouse or at other stages from manufacture to final delivery.
