NATIONAL CARGO BUREAU OBSERVES 50TH ANNIVERSARY
The National Cargo Bureau, a New York-based, not-for-profit organization that inspects the stowage, securing and unloading of cargo on ships, observed its 50th anniversary on Tuesday with a reception at India House in lower Manhattan.
NCB’s surveyors also inspect hazardous intermodal cargoes.
The Bureau is a hybrid of the private sector and the federal government, having had the U.S. Coast Guard as a partner recognized in statute law since 1952.
NCB recently signed a new memorandum that formalized an augmented cargo security role with the Coast Guard.
