Nautilus buys bulk terminal in Savannah

Nautilus International Holding Corp., parent company of Metropolitan Stevedore Co., said it acquired privately held Savannah International Terminal (SIT) for an undisclosed amount at the end of March.

SIT is a 15-acre bulk and breakbulk terminal on the south side of the Savannah River that includes a 225,000-square-foot warehouse and direct rail and highway access. The facility specializes in the export of clay, but is planning terminal improvements to expand its range of bulk cargo capabilities.

Wilmington, Calif.-based Nautilus has an East Coast stevedoring operation, Southeast Crescent Shipping, at the Port of Wilmington, N.C.

Nautilus also owns Metro Cruise, Metro Shore Services, Pacific Warehouse, and Metro Risk Management.
