The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is considering the elimination of seven road-level crossings on a CSX rail line in Wake Forest and Raleigh.
NCDOT is holding public hearings this week to discuss two proposed projects, the purpose of which is to “eliminate the potential for vehicle and train collisions at the rail crossings and to end backups at those locations caused when trains traveling through the area hold up traffic at different times of the day,” the department said in a statement.
Improvements are proposed at Durant Road, Gresham Lake Road, Millbrook Road, New Hope Church Road and Wolfpack Lane in Raleigh, as well as at rail crossings on Rogers Road and Ligon Mill Road in Wake Forest.
