New Bangladesh head for DHL Global Forwarding

DHL Global Forwarding has appointed Nooruddin Chowdhury as its country head in Bangladesh, part of $10 million investment to enhance logistic capabilities in the fast-growing South Asian country.

DHL Global Forwarding Bangladesh was formed last year as a joint venture between DHL, the world's leading logistics company, and its long-standing partner, Trade Clippers Cargo Ltd. A DHL Fashion and Apparel Center of Excellence was recently launched in the capital Dhaka. DHL operates 700,000 square feet of warehouse space in Bangladesh.

Mustaque Ahmed, the former managing director of DHL Global Forwarding Bangladesh and Trade Clippers Cargo, will remain as a board director of the joint venture.

'In Bangladesh, the opportunities for business and for people are growing each day,' said Thomas Tieber, chief executive officer, South Asia, for DHL Global Forwarding. 'Although textiles are a priority, we will however be leveraging our network and logistics capabilities to support infrastructure projects in Bangladesh as well as fulfill the logistics needs of the growing life science and aid and relief sectors.'
