Port Freeport in Texas recently received two new post-Panamax cranes from Shanghai.
Both cranes will occupy a portion of Berth 7 at Velasco Terminal. They stand just under 300 feet from the ground and can lift up to 75 tons.
“The cranes will allow us to attract new services and business to Port Freeport,” said Glenn Carlson, executive port director, in a statement.
The port is aiming more investments at servicing the petrochemical industry. “For these companies to be able to ship directly from the port will allow them to reduce their supply chain costs and have access to the worldwide markets,” Carlson added.
