NEW WORLD ALLIANCE ADDS YANTIAN TRANSPACIFIC CALL

   The New World Alliance carriers — Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Hyundai Merchant
Marine and APL — are expanding their direct coverage of South China by adding a call at
Yantian to one of their transpacific service.
   From June 24, the weekly "PSW" service of the alliance will have a
rotation of Yantian (Thursday-Thursday), Hong Kong (Thursday-Saturday), Kaohsiung
(Saturday-Sunday), Busan (Tuesday-Wednesday), Long Beach (Thursday-Sunday), Oakland
(Monday-Tuesday), Tacoma (Wednesday-Friday), Busan (Sunday-Monday), Kwangyang
(Tuesday-Tuesday) and Yantian (Thursday-Thursday).
   The New World Alliance will then provides three direct weekly transpacific
services to and from Yantian.
   By contrast, the Sea-Land/Maersk alliance, the COSCO/Yangming/"K"
Line alliance and the Grand Alliance provide only two direct weekly transpacific services
to and from Yantian or Shekou, according to ComPairData, the global competitive
information database on shipping.
   The alliance of Hanjin Shipping, DSR-Senator and Cho Yang currently provides
no direct Pacific services to and from the South China port.
