NEW WORLD ALLIANCE SWITCHES U.K. CALL OF ASIA/EUROPE SERVICE

The carriers of the New World Alliance said that they will switch the U.K. port of call of their “AEX” Asia/Europe service from Felixstowe to Southampton and alter the sequence of ports of call in Europe.

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, APL and Hyundai Merchant Marine, the three lines of the alliance, said that the service modification would reduce transit times from the U.K. to Asia.

The revised rotation of the alliance’s “AEX” service will be Le Havre, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Rotterdam and Southampton, before sailing to Singapore, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung (Taiwan), Kwangyang (Korea), Busan (Korea) and Hakata (Japan).

Following the change, all of the Asia/northern Europe services of the New World Alliance will then be calling at the same U.K. port, which will reduce costs for British importers and exporters, the carriers said.
