NEWGISTICS, R.R. DONNELLEY, USF TO CREATE RETURNS NETWORK

Newgistics Inc., R.R. Donnelley Logistics Services and USF Processors said Monday they will develop a joint returns management network for Internet and catalog businesses.

The service, called Return Valet, “will make it easier for catalog and e-retail customers to return merchandise through the strategic alliance,” said John Campanelli, president of R.R. Donnelley Logistics Services.

Newgistics provides a Web-enabled network of more than 4,000 neighborhood storefronts. R.R. Donnelley Logistics, a business unit of R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co., operates a nationwide network for pickup and transportation of returned items from neighborhood return centers and has extensive experience dealing with catalog companies and electronic retail companies. USF Processors, a logistics subsidiary of USFreightways Corp., operates more than 80 returns management warehouses.

The service will enable consumers to receive instant credit on returned goods as well as direct customer service from Newgistics' storefronts.

“The alliance yields a lower cost, higher level of service,” said Kevin Sheehan, president and chief executive officer of USF Processors. “Our services in the areas of reverse logistics, warehouse management and liquidation, coupled with the Newgistics Web-based technology, will provide the ultimate customer-friendly solution.”
