NFI starts transportation brokerage unit
NFI has started a transportation brokerage service to connect shippers and carriers throughout the country.
'There are thousands of transportation brokers out there, but the vast majority of them do not have the advantage of large, established trucking and warehousing networks to complement their brokerage capabilities,' said Jim Quinn, vice president of NFI Transportation Brokerage.
NFI stated brokering freight transportation more than six years ago, but until now this service was a 'value-add,' reserved for only its existing customers.
With the launch of a new online presence, the brokerage unit allows customers to track their freight online 24 hours a day. Each customer will have a dedicated NFI employee with whom they can also communicate for assistance.
Based in Vineland, N.J., privately owned NFI owns about 60 trucking and maintenance facilities in the United States and abroad. The company employs more than 5,000 people, operates some 18 million square feet of contract and public warehouse and distribution space, and generates about $810 million in revenue a year.
