Nippon Express offers door-to-door service from Asia to India

Nippon Express has begun offering fully in-house consolidated door-to-door transport service to India through its ocean cargo consolidation service line, Arrow International GNS.

The service ships cargo bound for India from Tokyo, Nagoya, Kobe, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Bangkok as well as cargo from other Asian locations to Singapore as consolidated cargo, Nippon Express said. India-bound cargo is then sorted into shipments for New Delhi and Chennai at the company’s Singapore’s warehouse and transshipped to the respective destinations.

Domestic transport after arrival in India is handled by Nippon Express (India), which was established in April 2007.

“This in-house door-to-door service aims to prevent damage during transshipment, and entrusting customs clearance arrangements to NE India’s expertise in this area enables the group to provide smooth forwarding service and accurate tracing information for cargo bound inland to Delhi,” the company said in a statement. “Numerous shipping companies offering container transport to India use Singapore as a hub port for transshipping, so the number of days required for transport by this new service compares favorably with other direct transport services.”

Nippon Express said the rise in Japanese firms interested in trading in India led to the creation of the service.

“Recent years have seen a rising number of Japanese companies expanding into the economically emergent India as well as a diversification of logistics needs,” the company said.

Nippon Express India has offices in 10 cities, most notably Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Chennai.
