NORTHWEST ACQUIRES 747 FREIGHTER
Northwest Airlines has purchased its tenth B747-200 freighter aircraft
five months after buying its ninth.
The aircraft, a factory-built 1988 B747 freighter, will enter service
next year after being converted to Northwest standards. It will support
additional frequencies to and from Hong Kong, Taipei, Chicago, San
Francisco and Shanghai — Northwest’s newest all-cargo destination.
Northwest said it wants to strengthen its cargo presence in Japan,
China, Singapore, Korea, the southern U.S., and Europe.
