According to the Cass Truckload Linehaul Index, truckload linehaul rates in November were 1.8 percent higher than in November of last year.
Linehaul rates for the first 11 months of 2013, on average, are up 1.8 percent as compared to 2012. Truckload volumes continue to grow, posting a three-month average of 7.2 percent over last year, spawned by strength in energy, housing and the automotive markets.
The Cass Intermodal Price Index shows that total intermodal costs remained below 2012 levels for the third month in a row, partially due to lower year-over-year diesel prices. In November, all-in intermodal costs were 1.5 percent below November 2012. Rail data has shown weekly intermodal volumes remaining near the all-time record highs set in October.
