The Japanese shipping group will collaborate with Dualog and NTT Group on a vessel platform proposal that is currently being validated with ship information systems (SIMS) data, the companies announced.
The NYK Group, which comprises Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha and MTI Co., has partnered with Norwegian maritime IT firm Dualog and information and communication technology group NTT Group (Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation, NTT DATA Corporation) to begin developing an onboard IoT platform.
The partnership will compile data gathered from ship information management systems (SIMS) to validate the technology used in its IoT platform proposal.
Via NTT Group’s AI technology and Dualog’s cloud services, the platform will provide vessel operators with data gathering from onboard sensors and monitoring equipment, remote distribution and management of onboard applications, and monitoring of ship equipment, event analyses, and intelligent alerts, the partnership stated.
NYK Group plans to open up the platform to the maritime industry, in association with Class NK, DNV-GL, and ship machinery and equipment makers, the company said.
