NYK Logistics (Belgium) enters health care logistics market
Antwerp-based NYK Logistics (Belgium), part of Japan’s NYK Group, is entering the health care logistics market by setting up a European and domestic distribution center.
The move follows its Antwerp warehouse being granted in May a Good Distribution Practices (GDP) license, giving proof of the company's ability to store and distribute pharmaceutical products in line with legislation. Additionally, NYK Logistics obtained a license for secondary repackaging.
“For NYK Logistics (Belgium) it was a strategic decision to focus on the health care sector, because we are convinced NYK can add value to it,” said Hans van der Eijk, NYK Logistics' general manager commercial services.
In cooperation with NYK Logistics (UK), which has three GDP licensed facilities, the Belgium unit will serve the European mainland and the United Kingdom both as a national as pan-European distribution centers for pharmaceutical customers.
“Secure supply chains will become more and more important, especially in the pharmaceutical area, where temperature conditions need to be maintained. In this respect NYK's focus will be on quality and cost competitive solutions for our customers,” van der Eijk said.
