NYK Logistics opens Norfolk Logistics Center

NYK Logistics (Americas) Inc. said it has opened a new logistics center in Chesapeake, Va., near the Port of Norfolk.

   The $27 million Norfolk Logistics Center is a cross-dock facility with more than 130,000 square feet on 35 acres of land. The structure will have 182 dock doors, and more than 770 parking slots designed to streamline port-related distribution and development activities.

   Customers will include Minneapolis-based Target Stores along with other major retailers and consumer-geared companies.

   NYK Logistics said the facility would be able to handle more than 300 import containers per day and will employ more than 375 people during peak operations.

   NYK Logistics offers services such as supply chain management, overseas consolidation, transloading, and ocean and air freight transportation.
