NYK REVIEWS BUSINESS PROCESSES AND ORGANIZATION
The NYK group has completed the initial stage of a
large-scale corporate program to review business processes and organization.
The program, named "breakthrough 21," aims to "build a
resilient corporate structure by overcoming our weaknesses and further developing our
strong points," a spokesman for NYK said.
The plan calls for innovation and concerted efforts of all personnel.
NYK said that it will implement the program on a full scale.
The NYK group has formed eight working groups and two ad hoc committees
to review processes and set targets.
The working groups are named: non-liner business reinforcement;
"black-ink" liner business; logistics strategy; group management; personnel and
education policy; safe operation management; finance reinforcement; and technical group.
"We are now entering a stage where we are being tested as to
whether or not we can really bring about the changes we are committed to making" said
Jiro Nemoto, chairman of NYK.
