President Obama on Wednesday announced his intent to nominate T.F. Scott Darling III to administrator of the Transportation Department’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

President Obama on Wednesday announced his intent to nominate T.F. Scott Darling III to administrator of the Transportation Department’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
Darling has served as the FMCSA’s chief counsel since 2012, and acting administrator from August 2014 to March 2015.
Prior to the FMCSA, Darling was deputy chief of staff and assistant general counsel for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority from 2009 to 2012, and environmental and land use counsel for the MBTA from 2005 to 2008.
“Through strong and effective management as chief counsel and acting administrator of FMCSA, Scott has already demonstrated his ability to lead the agency,” said Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx in a statement. “As administrator, FMCSA will continue to benefit from his years of leadership and experience working in the transportation sector.”
“We look forward to continuing to work with Administrator Scott Darling,” Jim Johnston, president and CEO of the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association, said of the nomination. “We have found him to be open and receptive to input from the Association, and he appears to appreciate the role of professional truckers.”
