Oceanex to replace fire-damaged crane at St. John’s

Short-sea vessel operator Oceanex has ordered a new Liebherr habor crane for its St. John’s terminal to replace the one damaged by fire in mid-September.

Newfoundland-based short-sea vessel operator Oceanex has ordered a new Liebherr mobile habor crane for its St. John’s terminal to replace the one damaged by fire in mid-September.
“To ensure we are able to provide the consistent, reliable service our customers have come to expect, it is absolutely necessary to replace the crane as quickly as possible, particularly before the arrival of the harsher winter weather,” said Oceanex Executive Chairman Sid Hynes in a statement Thursday.
The crane, valued at about $6 million, is similar in size to two others that Oceanex had purchased previously from Liebherr.
