OL International opens office in South Africa

The Westbury, N.Y.-based non-vessel-operating common carrier opened a new office in Durban, South Africa, operating as Oceanwide Logistics SA (Pty) Ltd. (OL South Africa).

OL International Holdings has opened a new office in Duban, South Africa to expand its non-vessel-operating common carrier (NVOCC) services in the region.
Durban is the Westbury, N.Y.-based NVOCC’s nineteenth office. Operating as Oceanwide Logistics SA (Pty) Ltd. (OL South Africa), it will be led by Managing Director Bruce Stephenson, a 30-plus-year industry veteran.
“Opening a company office to manage all of South Africa is a strategic part of OL International’s global expansion,” said Alan Baer, president of OL International, in a statement. “The Port of Durban is the busiest shipping terminal in sub-Saharan Africa, and the fourth largest container terminal in the Southern Hemisphere. It acts as an essential gateway for ‘south-south’ trade, and connects Asia, Europe and the Americas, as well as trade between East and West Africa.”
