Oman Air taps Cargologic for freight handling in Zurich

The Swiss-based airfreight handling services provider announced it will become Oman Air’s cargo handling agent for the airline’s direct flights from Zurich, Switzerland to Muscat, Oman.

   Oman Air has selected airfreight handling services provider Cargologic to become its freight handling agent for its direct flights from Zurich, Switzerland to Muscat, Oman effective Oct. 1.
   According to the airline’s winter timetable, an Oman Air A330 will fly from Zurich to Muscat five times a week.
   Cargologic expects to handle approximately 200 tons of freight a month for Oman Air in Zurich.
   The airfreight handling services provider’s Zurich location features 43,000 square meters of warehouse space for handling, 8,500 pallet positions and 35 truck docks, according to its website.
   “Via its hub in Muscat, the airline serves a network that is of interest to Swiss freight clients who would like to send cargo to destinations in the Middle East, Africa, the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia,” Cargologic Managing Director Marco Gredig said in a statement.
   Based out of Switzerland, Cargologic is a subsidiary of global logistics services provider Rhenus. In addition to its Zurich location, Cargologic operates at three other airports in Switzerland, located in Basel, Berne and Lugano. The company is also present in Amsterdam and Brussels through its affiliate, Skylink.
