OOCL AND WAN HAI IN JOINT ASIA/MIDEAST LINK
Hong Kong-based OOCL and Taiwan’s Wan Hai Lines are launching a
joint direct container service between North China, other Asian ports and the Mideast.
The China/Middle East weekly service is scheduled to be launched on
July 26 from Dalian and will employ six 1,000-TEU ships.
The port rotation will be Dalian, Tianjin, Qingdao, Shanghai, Hong
Kong, Singapore, Port Kelang, Dubai, Karachi, Port Kelang, Singapore, Hong Kong and
Dalian.
The service is the first direct service between North China and the
Mideast. The carriers plan to eventually extend the service to cover ports in Japan,
subject to approval from concerned government authorities, a spokesman for OOCL said.
