The short-sea carriers commenced the Portugal and South Spain service, which operates with three, 700-TEU containerships, Oldenburg-Portugiesische Dampfschiffs-Rhederei said.
Oldenburg-Portugiesische Dampfschiffs-Rhederei (OPDR) and MacAndrews launched the weekly Portugal and South Spain service (POSS) between North Europe and the Iberian Peninsula.
The loop has a rotation of Tilbury, Dunkirk, Rotterdam, Leixoes, Setubal, Lisbon, Algeciras, Cartagena, Algeciras, Lisbon, Setubal, Leixoes, and Tilbury. The southbound Lisbon and Algeciras calls are inducements, according to OPDR’s proforma schedule.
OPDR operates the three, 700-TEU containerships on the POSS, while the container slots on all vessels are equally divided between MacAndrews and OPDR.
The three containerships active on the service are the Pantonio, JRS Capella and OPDR Lisboa, according to OPDR’s online service schedule.
Based in Germany, OPDR joined the CMA CGM Group in July as a subsidiary of MacAndrews. The carrier specializes in short-sea maritime service between Europe and Africa and door-to-door logistics solutions.
U.K.-based MacAndrews joined the CMA CGM Group in 2002 and provides intra-European ocean and land transportation.
