OTAL ADDS HIGH-CUBE CONTAINERS TO FLEET
OT Africa Line has expanded its container fleet to 20,000 TEUs, by adding 400 40-foot high-cube containers.
The new equipment is being phased into OTAL's U.S. and Far East intermodal trades to West Africa over northern Europe and will soon be available to European shippers.
The boxes are being built under a five-year lease contract with U.S. lessor Interpool by Nantong Smooth Sail Container Co. of Nantong City, Jiangsu, and CIMC of Shekou, China.
The fleet expansion is in response to increasing trend toward greater volumes per container and a higher incidence of cargo costed on cubic, rather that weight basis in the West Africa trades, said Paul Page, OTAL's marketing manager.
