Otto to take over from retiring Abels as Saddle Creek president
Bruce Abels is retiring as president of Lakeland, Fla.-based third-party logistics services provider Saddle Creek Corp. effective July 1.
At that time, Cliff Otto will be promoted from executive vice president to president of Saddle Creek Corp. and Saddle Creek Transportation, its new division started at the end of last year.
Abels will continue to be affiliated with Saddle Creek as vice chairman of the board. He will also provide advisory services and continue to represent the company on the board of the International Warehouse Logistics Association, where he is an officer.
Otto, responsible for Saddle Creek’s warehousing and value-added operations, joined the company in 2001. He previously spent 11 years with CHEP USA, where he held positions including senior vice president/general manager and senior vice president for North American sales.
“We’re continuing to enhance our technology platform and extend our geographic footprint,” Otto said. “Saddle Creek continues to expand its solid position in the market, and I’m excited to have this opportunity to lead the company’s future success as a major player in the third-party logistics marketplace.”
