OWL expands to Houston

Non-vessel-operating common carrier Ocean World Lines opened a new office in Houston to handle cargoes to and from the region.
OWL, a subsidiary of Pacer International, will handle project and out-of-gauge cargoes too large for standard containers, as well as provide logistics services specific to the petro-chemical industry.
“It is a fast growing region and well-known for exporting drilling, petro-chemical related supplies and other large-volume products, such as resins,” said Dan Gardner, OWL’s chief executive officer, in a statement.
Gardner also said the Panama Canal’s expansion is expected to increase Houston-bound containerized shipments by 150 percent over the next two decades to 4.5 million TEUs annually.
Abel Edgington, a 16-year veteran of logistics operations in the Texas area, will head OWL’s Houston office. He has previously held management positions at Triton Overseas Transport, RCS Intermodal and Expeditors International.
