Pacer Distribution opens California transload facility
Pacer Distribution Services, the warehousing and distribution arm of Pacer International, said Tuesday it has opened a new 52-door transload center in Carson, Calif.
PDS developed the 5.4-acre facility to support increased demand for transloading services for international freight shipments moving from the West Coast to inland points.
The Concord, Calif.-headquartered firm said the new facility is part of a company-wide effort to increase integration of its logistic services. PDS plans to further leverage the new transload capacity expansion with the rollout of a fully integrated international freight transload service with domestic door-to-door delivery in the near future.
While primarily dedicated to transloading services, the Carson facility will also provide additional capacity to the company’s previously existing 800,000 square feet of warehouse operations. The existing facilities support transload, cross-dock and customized freight-distribution services in the Los Angeles area.
