PACER INTERNATIONAL COMPLETES GTS ACQUISITION

Pacer International, the North American freight transportation and logistics provider, has concluded its acquisition of GTS Transportation Services, the non-asset-based logistics and truck-brokerage operation.

GTS, which manages truckload and less-than-truckload shipments in the 48 contiguous states and Canada and Mexico, reported $87 million in revenue in 1999. The company has 81 employees, mostly based at its Livermore, Calif. headquarters.

“The GTS acquisition will complement several of Pacer's existing services, including our highway brokerage unit and our third-party logistics-management operations,” said Bob Cross, executive vice president of Pacer.

Patrick Nolan, GTS president, and Jeff Roths, vice president, will continue to serve in those capacities.

Pacer, based in Walnut Creek, Calif., reported revenues of $600 million for the first six months of 2000, an increase of 67 percent, or $240 million of the year earlier period. The company, founded by Don Orris, chairman and chief executive officer, provides intermodal, trucking, warehousing, consolidation and other retail services through its Pacer Logistics organization. Pacer International also provides stacktrain services through Pacer Stacktrain.
