PACIFIC NUCLEAR TRANSPORT DEPARTS CHERBOURG FOR JAPAN
A large shipment of spent nuclear fuel departed from Cherbourg, France, bound for Japan on Wednesday.
Pacific Nuclear Transport Ltd., jointly operated by British Nuclear Fuels and Cogema of France, will transport the shipment.
Four casks containing 104 canisters of spent nuclear fuel will be loaded on one of Pacific Nuclear Transport’s specialized vessels, the Pacific Swan. The Federation of Electric Power Cos. in Japan will receive the shipment.
British Nuclear Fuels and Cogema said the route and approximate arrival time in Japan will be announced three days after departure
