Air cargo terminal operator Shanghai Pudong International Airport Cargo Terminal Co., Ltd. (PACTL) inaugurated its new cool center at Shanghai Pudong International Airport’s PACTL Terminal 1.
Covering over 3,500 square meters, the new facility is capable of handling 100,000 tons of temperature-sensitive goods per year, PACTL said.
The cool center features modern freezers for storage between -18 degrees Celsius and 8 degrees Celsius (-0.4 degrees Fahrenheit and 46.6 degrees Fahrenheit), coolers for storage between 2 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius, and an ambient climate zone for storage between 15 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius.
Refrigerated dollies and thermo-blankets are available to transport goods between the apron stands and the warehouse. In addition, the site is equipped with a 24-hour closed-circuit television system and an automated temperature measure alarm system.
A variety of commodities have recently passed through the new cool center, including biomedical and pharmaceutical products, dairy products, seafood, fruits and vegetables, and meat and poultry.
PACTL, which operates three cargo terminals at Shanghai Pudong International Airport, saw total cargo volumes inch up 1.5 percent year-over-year for the first three months of 2016 to 367,791 tons.
