Airfreight tonnage increased more than 12% year-over-year in the first quarter of 2015 at Shanghai Pudong Int’l Airport Cargo Terminal Co., Ltd.
Shanghai Pudong Int’l Airport Cargo Terminal Co., Ltd. (PACTL) handled 362,497 tons of airfreight in the first quarter, an increase of 12.7 percent to compared to the same period in 2014. The company attributed the growth primarily to an increase in import business.
Import cargo volumes at PACTL were up 15.9 percent year-over-year to 155,060 tons in the first three months of 2015. International imports rose by 16.6 percent, while domestic imports were up 9.1 percent.
The company’s export cargo volumes grew 10.4 percent to 207,437 tons for the quarter. International exports increased 10.8 percent, while domestic exports rose 4.9 percent.
“Our export business continues to develop strongly,” said Lutz Grzegorz, vice president of PACTL. “However, within the first quarter of 2015 we particularly registered an increase in our import business, especially in the international sector. This once again shows that imports and exports are developing in a more balanced way.”
