PANALPINA INTRODUCES CARGO TRACKING BY MOBILE PHONE
Panalpina, the Swiss forwarding and logistics group, is introducing
shipment tracking and tracing of shipments by mobile phone.
The new functionality uses wireless application protocol, which enables
mcustomers to dial into the Internet by telephone and access Panalpina’s consignment
tracking system PanTrace.
"This means that all customers are able at any time to establish the
current status of their consignments anywhere in the world," a spokesman for
Panalpina said.
The only prerequisite is that they use a WAP-compliant mobile phone.
Panalpina said the technology is based on WAP standard 1.1.
