Pilot Freight Services saw its revenues rise 10 percent year-over-year to $639 million in 2017, according to a recent statement from the company.
Results for the Lima, Penn.-based third-party logistics provider were boosted by a record fourth quarter that included a December in which revenues exceeded $65 million, making it the most profitable month in the history of the company.
Pilot attributed the strong performance to “diversified gains across all categories.”
“For the second month in a row, every Pilot product line saw double digit growth,” John Hill, president and chief commercial officer, said of the results. “In 2018, we expect our international product, driven by our new leadership team, will dominate our growth pattern, with e-commerce and logistics being strong vehicles for progress, as well,” he said.
The company said it sees an “enormous opportunity” to continue expanding its e-commerce service offerings, despite the fact that only a small fraction of overall global consumption is done online.
“Pilot is working to create more expedited shipping solutions for its e-commerce business, both locally and nationally, with faster delivery times and more transparency through the shipping process,” the company said.
