PMA BOARD MEETS AS DELAYS CONTINUE
The Pacific Maritime Association's board met Thursday to “consider options for defensive actions” if alleged slowdowns by the International Longshore & Warehouse Union continue, a spokesman for the PMA told AS+.
The delays in moving cargo on Thursday in the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach wasn't an intentional slowdown by the union, said Steve Stallone, a spokesman for the ILWU.
“Everything is normal in other ports. But in Los Angeles and Long Beach, we have a lack of personnel — tophandlers — made worse by a huge increase in containers coming through in these last few days,” Stallone said.
