P&O NEDLLOYD ORDERS ANOTHER FOUR GIANT CONTAINERSHIPS
P&O Nedlloyd Container Line has ordered another four giant
containerships of 6,788-TEU capacity.
The vessels will join the carrier’s existing four 6,690-TEU vessels in
the Asia/Europe services operated by P&O Nedlloyd and other carriers of the Grand
Alliance.
The four ships, ordered from the Korean shipyard Hyundai, will be
delivered between late 2000 and the first half of 2001. They will be owned
by banks and leased on a long term basis to P&O Nedlloyd.
The new ships will be among the largest in the world.
