Polzug Intermodal opens rail terminal in Wroclaw, Poland
European block train operator Polzug Intermodal has opened a four-track, 45,000-square-meter rail terminal in Wroclaw, Poland to serve the burgeoning consumer electronics and automotive markets that cluster there.
The Wroclaw Intermodal terminal will have daily service to and from the North European ports of Hamburg, Bremerhaven and Rotterdam. Storage capacity is 2,200 TEUs with four reachstackers, two cranes and two terminal traction engines. Containers from 20 to 45 feet can be handled on the terminal.
Other services offered are customs clearance, customs agents, storage of full and empty containers, container sweeping, reefer connections and container repair. On request, Polzug said it can also offer the escorting of high value market goods and security labeling and sealing.
The company was founded in 1991 to provide intermodal services into Poland and Eastern Europe when trade opened up following the fall of the Iron Curtain. Last year, Polzug carried some 145,000 TEUs to and from Poland, Central and Eastern Europe, the CIS and Russia, Afghanistan and beyond.
