Port Canaveral okays liquid bulk operation
Port Canaveral has approved a 30-year lease on a site that will house a new fuel tank farm on the north side of the port.
'The fuel tank farm is expected to be the single largest private investment in the history of the Port Canaveral,' said CEO Stan Payne. 'This project will yield economic benefits to the Port, Brevard County, and for the entire economy of the state of Florida.'
Added port commission chairman Tom Goodson: 'We believe Port Canaveral, with its deep channel and quick ocean access, strategically is located to supply Florida's energy needs.'
Vitol S.A. will build the tank farm on 30 acres of port property.
Port officials said that the addition of the tank farm, along with the addition of a storage/warehouse complex by Ambassador Services Inc. that was approved in March, will increase revenues in 2007 to around $18 million, up from this year's $7.3 million.
