Port Everglades honors Perez Trading

Port Everglades Wednesday honored Perez Trading's 60th anniversary of the company's presence in South Florida.

Jose Antonio Arenas, vice president of logistics for Perez Trading, left, and Port Everglades Director Phillip C. Allen.

Perez started operations in New York and moved its headquarters to Florida in 1980. The paper products distributor is a key exporter at Port Everglades. It has a 170,000-square-foot warehouse and office in Miami and distributes more than 350,000 tons of paper products a year.

Much of its business is to Central America, South America and the Caribbean. From Port Everglades, the company uses the services of    Crowley Liner Services, Maersk Line and Mediterranean Shipping Co.

'Perez Trading, and the successful business model that this family-owned and operated company has developed, is a good example of why Port Everglades maintains a healthy export business as compared to other U.S. seaports,' says Port Everglades Director Phillip C. Allen.
