Port Everglades offers tips for radiation monitors
With new U.S. Customs and Border Protection radiation monitors in place at Port Everglades, the port has issued a series of recommendations to truckers that will be passing through the security system.
Before exiting the port, all container, box trailer and provisioning trucks must now proceed through the monitoring system. Drivers need to follow these steps:
' Stop at the stop line prior to entry.
' Do not enter the portal area unless the lane ahead is clear.
' Once the lane is clear, proceed through the portal at a maximum speed of 5 miles per hour.
' Continue driving forward until arriving at a stop light signal.
' Stop and wait at the stop light signal.
' If the light turns green, continue exiting Port Everglades.
' If the signal light remains red, stay in the truck until a CBP officer provides further instructions by intercom or in person.
