Port of Bronka making progress

The Finnish shipping port is scheduled to open in September 2015.

   The Port of Bronka, located on the southern bank of the gulf of Finland, is scheduled to open in September 2015. Once operational, the port will have one container terminal and one ro-ro terminal, according to the port’s website.
   The freighter Meri last week arrived at the Port of Bronka from Hanko, Finland to deliver the first three cranes to the Port of Bronka, the Port of Hamburg said.
   A total of ten RTG cranes, manufactured by Konecranes are scheduled for delivery at the new port. The next batch is scheduled for delivery in mid-August.
   The container terminal will cover 264.4 acres with five berths along quays that extend 1,176 meters. It will be able to handle 1.45 million TEUs a year.
   The ro-ro terminal will cover 140.9 acres with three births. The terminal will have a quay length of 630 meters with the ability to handle 260,000 automotive units a year.
   According to the Port of Bronka, the second phase of construction at the port will be completed in 2017. It will involve the opening of a logistics center and the expansion of container operations.
