The Port of Bronka, located on the outskirts of St. Petersburg, Russia, received the first two Liebherr ST P167L (WS) container gantry cranes last week in preparation for the port to enter service next month, the Port of Hamburg said.
The new cranes have a boom range of 51 meters, a lifting capacity of 65 tons and the capability to discharge or load the farthest in a row of 18 containers on deck.
The deepwater Port of Bronka will be equipped with a total of four Liebherr post-Panamax container gantry cranes.
In June, the port received the first three of 10 RTG cranes manufactured by Finnish crane builder Konecranes. These cranes have a lifting capacity of 50 tons beneath the spreader, a stacking height of one-over-five standard containers, can reach over a stack width of six containers and discharge and load rail tracks.
The port encompasses two terminals and a logistics center. The container terminal covers 107 hectares and is equipped with five berths alongside quays that extend 1,200 meters. The roll-on/roll-off terminal covers 57 hectares with a quay length of 710 meters, with the ability to handle three ships simultaneously.
Initially, the water depth will be 11.2 meters. By the end of the year, the water depth is expected to reach 14.4 meters with the prospect to reach 16 meters deep.
At the first stage of construction, the container terminal will be able to handle 1.45 million TEUs and the ro-ro terminal will be able to handle 260,000 units each year.
