The refueling station, scheduled for completion in early 2017, will be located at the main entrance of the Royal Seaforth Container Terminal and adjacent to the new Liverpool2 deep-water container terminal, which will have its formal opening next month.
A new 24-hour heavy goods vehicle (HGV) refueling station is currently being constructed at the Port of Liverpool, Peel Ports Group said Tuesday.
Certas Energy will own and operate the new facility, which will be located at the main entrance of the Royal Seaforth Container Terminal and adjacent to the new Liverpool2 deep-water container terminal. Peel Ports CEO Mark Whitworth said last week the Liverpool2 terminal will have its formal opening next month.
A Peel Ports spokesperson told American Shipper the group, which has ports and terminals across the United Kingdom and Ireland, does not currently have any dedicated external HGV refueling stations and this will be the group’s first.
The HGV refueling station will be completed in early 2017 and will allow up to eight HGVs to refuel simultaneously, Peel Ports said.
“High speed pumps combined with advanced data collection, fuel monitoring equipment and filtration systems will ensure the best service offering at all times,” Peel Ports said. “The port-centric location will provide a convenient place for drivers to refuel, eliminating unnecessary journeys with the expectation that it will indirectly reduce road congestion as a result.”
